Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) disconnected its third reactor from the country's power grid at 0258 on January 1 for scheduled medium-term repairs, the press service of the national nuclear energy generating company Energoatom reported on Tuesday.

Rivne NPP switched its first power unit to reserve mode on December 30, 2011.

As of January 3 morning, thirteen out of Ukraine’s fifteen nuclear reactors were operating.

Radiation levels and the fire and environmental situations at all Ukrainian nuclear power plants are normal, Energoatom’s press service said.

Energoatom, Ukraine’s nuclear power plant operator, runs the Zaporizhia, Yuzhnoukrainsk, Rivne and Khmelnytsky nuclear power plants, which together run 15 reactors with a total generating capacity of 13,835 megawatts.
