You're reading: Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant puts third reactor back on stream

Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) reconnected its third reactor to the Ukrainian power grids at 0147 Kyiv time on March 25 after the completion of scheduled medium-term repairs, NJSC Energoatom's press service has reported.

The reactor was disconnected on January 29, 2013, the press service said.

Thus, as of Monday morning, 13 out of 15 reactors are operating at Ukraine’s four existing nuclear power plants.

Rivne NPP’s third reactor and Yuzhnoukrainsk NPP’s first reactor are currently undergoing repairs.

Radiation levels and the fire and environmental situations at all Ukrainian NPPs are normal, the press service said.

Energoatom is the operator of all four operating nuclear power plants
in Ukraine. It operates Zaporizhia, Yuzhnoukrainsk, Rivne and
Khmelnytsky plants with 15 VVER reactors whose total installed
electrical capacity is 13.835 GW.
