Kharkiv, July 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Passenger servicing at Kharkiv International Airport during the Euro 2012 European Football Championship will take only one minute, according to the press service of DCH Company, which is modernizing the airport.
For this purpose, 25 aviation security checkpoints will operate at the airport terminals.

"The calculations and tests we carried out prove that our airport is ready to cope with the expected capacity," the press service cited DCH Deputy Head on Aviation Security Serhiy Makotseba as saying.

According to him, security is one of the top priorities of the airport's preparations for Euro 2012. In particular, the work mechanisms for the separation of passenger flows are being changed.

"If Kharkiv hosts a match between principal rivals, fans of one of the teams, let's say England, will use a new terminal, which already works, while fans of the other team, Spain, for instance, will use the temporary terminal. We will service the UEFA family and other VIP passengers at the old airport. That is how we will minimize the possibility of conflicts between fans," Makotseba said.

In addition, we are planning to change the passenger registration system. Football fans will register and receive return boarding cards from Kharkiv in their countries.

This will speed up the registration and increase Kharkiv airport's capacity.

Recording devices and cameras will be installed in the airport to record everything that takes place during passenger registration, in parking lots and in the area around the airport.

The airport will purchase more than 100 Bosch cameras for this purpose. In addition, equipment for perimeter control of the airport, including cameras and signal systems, will be bought so there can be a quick reaction to illegal intrusions.

A detachment of the interior troops of Ukraine will be on duty during Euro 2012. They will control the checkpoints, as well as join security subdivisions and create response teams. In addition, a police detachment will also work at the Kharkiv airport.

The Kharkiv International Airport reconstruction is being overhauled as part of the preparations for Euro 2012. DCH Group is overhauling the airport and developing its territory.

The overhaul, including the construction of a new runway, is being funded from the national budget of Ukraine.
