The Interior Ministry of Ukraine believes the disappearance of Vasyl Klymentyev, the chief editor of the Kharkiv-based weekly Novyi Stil, is connected to his professional work.
"We are more inclined to think that the incident with Klymentyev might be connected to his professional activity," Ukrainian Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov said at a briefing in Kyiv on September 30.

He also said that during an additional search of the journalist's apartment, a gun with rubber bullets was found.

"The case is not so simple. We searched this apartment earlier, so, probably, one of his relatives returned this gun [to the apartment]," the minister said.

Mohyliov noted that there are many nuances and conflicts between certain people in this case.

In turn, Deputy Interior Minister Leonid Zyma said that more than 300 witnesses and 982 residents of the district have been questioned on this case, and in addition, the police have checked hundreds of cars and are searching for people who could have access to Klymentyev's apartment, where the second gun was found.

Zyma noted that a first gun had been found earlier in this apartment.

According to him, there is no evidence that the journalist's disappearance was connected to a debt.

As reported, Klymentyev, the chief editor for the Kharkiv-based weekly Novyi Stil, disappeared on August 11 and is still missing. His colleagues have expressed concern that Klymentyev's disappearance is connected to his professional work.
