Total prize money for Euro 2012 to reach nearly EUR 200 million

The total prize money for the final tournament of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship is EUR 196 million.

The total prize money for the final tournament of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship is EUR 196 million (up from EUR 184 million for Euro 2008), reads a statement posted on UEFA's official Web site on Friday.
Such a decision was taken after a two-day meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee in Nyon.

The fixed participation contribution per team will amount to EUR 8 million.

Further, a performance bonus at the group stage of EUR 500,000 per draw and EUR 1 million per win was fixed, as well as a bonus of EUR 1 million to the third-placed team in the group.

The quarter-finalists will each receive EUR 2 million, the semi-finalists EUR 3 million, the runners-up EUR 4.5 million and the winners of Euro 2012 EUR 7.5 million.

The Executive Committee also approved the date and location for the Euro 2012 play-off draw that will take place in Krakow, Poland, on October 13, 2011.

The exact timing and location will be announced in due course.

The procedure for the final draw was also approved, according to the competition regulations, and will take place at the Ukraine National Palace of Arts in Kyiv on December 2 at 1900 local time (1800 CET).
