Uber Technologies Inc., the U.S. multinational online on-demand transportation company, rolled out its premium service UberSELECT in Kyiv on Sept. 22.

Judging by the price and car makes, the feature is an intermediary between UberX, launched in Kyiv on June 30, and company’s VIP service Uber Black – still not available in Ukraine.

UberSELECT offers taxi services with Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, Volkswagen Passat, Mazda 6, Skoda Superb, Honda CR-V and other car models in the same class.

The service costs Hr 1 more per kilometer than UberX, and the minimum cost of a ride is Hr 55 ($2). To get to Boryspil International Airport from the western part of Kyiv will cost around Hr 230 ($9), and from the eastern part – Hr 320 ($13)

Since UberX was launched, “we’ve noticed a record increase in demand – the number of downloads of the app and rides during the firsts weeks of operation surpassed the best figures in the whole region,” Uber Ukraine general manager Arkadiy Vershebenyuk said on Sept. 22.

To choose the new service, a user should launch the company’s smartphone application and change the service class by dragging the slider in the lower part of the app’s interface.

In Kyiv, the estimated time of arrival of a car is roughly 5 minutes. In this respect, the service in Kyiv is faster in comparison with other cities: according to Uber, the waiting time in Minsk in neighboring Belarus is 10 minutes on average.
