The halt in the Ukrainian parliament's work prevents the authorities from implementing their plans to improve the social and economic situation in the country, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

“At present, there is a problem and the link between the legislative and executive branches has been broken,” he said at a meeting of the Council of Regions in Kyiv on Thursday, March 21.

The president expressed his regret that the parliament had not worked for four months.

“There are different reasons for this. I do not want to be a judge today, because I have never done this and will not do this now,” Yanukovych said.

In his words, the country will develop, they will find ways to improve the country’s economy and living standards if this line (parliament-government) works, the president said. “Unfortunately, this line has been broken,” the president added.
