“The steps taken by the Russian Federation directly contradict not only the basic rules of international law, but also the recent assurances given by President Putin at the Minsk summit about his willingness to achieve a peaceful solution to the crisis in eastern Ukraine. The Czech Republic therefore calls on the Russian Federation to immediately withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian territory,” reads a statement released on the Web site of the Czech Embassy in Ukraine on Aug. 29.

In addition, the Czech Republic reiterates its demands for Russia to cease the shelling of Ukrainian territory from Russian territory, to abort the increasing deliveries of heavy military equipment and arms, and to allow an independent control of the Ukraine-Russia border along its full length.
