You're reading: Donetsk airport won’t serve flights until June 30, if needed term could be extended

 Donetsk International Airport will not serve flights until June 30 under a decision of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine.

 This information appeared on the Web site of the airport on June 3.

“According to the decision of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, Donetsk airport will not be able to service flights until June 30. This directive is related to the inability to ensure flight safety due to the armed conflict in the region, if necessary its validity may be extended,” reads a statement.

According to the information, the resumption of air service is possible only after the stabilization of the situation and the control by Ukrainian aviation authorities of compliance with all international standards and requirements in terms of flight safety.

As reported, Donetsk airport from 0700 on May 26 stopped serving flights because it was occupied by the armed representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, afterwards the State Aviation Service limited flights to the airport.

Later, on Friday, May 30, the State Aviation Service extended a ban on operating flights to Donetsk airport until June 6.
