You're reading: Donetsk regional leadership, UN mission discuss housing repairs in Sloviansk, supply of medicines, financial assistance to residents

Deputy Head of Donetsk Regional State Administration Illia Shevliak and representatives of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees have discussed the question of repairing housing in Sloviansk, the town in Donetsk region freed from illegal armed groups, reads a statement posted on the Web site of the information policy and press department of the regional state administration (DonPress.com).

At a meeting held in Sloviansk on Wednesday, July 9 the sides discussed the issues of glazing apartments for socially disadvantaged groups, and repairing roofs and houses. In addition, they considered the issues of supplying medicines and fuel to the town.

It was also stated at the meeting that the next step would be direct financial assistance to individuals who are returning to the town.

According to DonPress.com, Sloviansk was visited by representatives of the UN agencies for children, refugees and human rights and coordination of humanitarian assistance who assessed the humanitarian needs of the town and its residents, including those who are returning to the town every day.

Shevliak said that the regional leadership would soon hold a meeting with other UN agencies on the provision of assistance to Sloviansk.
