Moscow - Representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics will propose a new version of the Minsk protocol at the next round of consultations in Minsk, DPR First Deputy Prime Minister Andriy Purhin and Chairman of the so-called LPR People's Council Oleksiy Kariakin said in a joint statement.

“The next session of the trilateral Contact Group may be held no earlier than in two weeks’ time. The republics’ representatives will offer a new version of the Minsk protocol at the next meeting in the Minsk format,” according to the statement, seen by Interfax (interfax.ru) on Thursday.

The Minsk protocol should be adjusted because “Ukraine has unilaterally annulled it and has revoked the laws granting special status to Donbas and on amnesty,” the document says.

“Prior to that, Ukraine, also acting in a unilateral manner and without giving any explanation, rejected an officially agreed line of contact,” Purhin and Kariakin said.

Before the trilateral Contact Group’s next meeting, which may be held no earlier than in two weeks’ time, “the people’s republics will have to appoint their permanent representatives to there talks,” according to the statement.

“The heads of the republics and the parliament speakers will not personally attend the Minsk consultations, but the republics’ representatives will follow their instructions,” the document says.
