Since the beginning of the war in Luhansk Oblast 40 schools and kindergartens have been either destroyed or damaged, Head of Luhansk Regional Military-Civil Administration Hennadiy Moskal has said.

“Holding classes in many damaged buildings is impossible, therefore other buildings are used for education process in a number of populated areas,” Moskal’s press service quoted him as saying.

Moskal also said that in the majority of cases Ukrainian troops weren’t located near schools and there was no reason to shell the buildings.

“During the lull in battle, repairs were managed to be made to a number of schools and kindergartens and they began to work again,” Moskal said.
