The Cabinet of Ministers has created the State Service for Veterans, People with Disabilities and Participants in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO), Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said.

“According to our calculations, about 50,000 of our guys are
currently engaged in the ATO. In this regard, at today’s meeting the
government created the State Service for Veterans, People with
Disabilities and Participants in the anti-terrorist operation,” he told
reporters on Monday, Aug. 11 after visiting the military hospital in Kyiv.

At the same time, Yatseniuk said that the government had initially
considered the idea of creating a separate ministry that would deal with
these issues, but the parliament rejected this initiative.

He said that the newly established service would deal with social
security of all ATO participants, including their registration,
employment, medical and psychological rehabilitation, and the provision
of housing to the families who were left without a breadwinner.
