The proposed government amendments to Ukraine's state budget for 2014 envisage the allocation of Hr 1.9 billion as additional funding for Ukrainian security forces engaged in the anti-terrorist operation, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said.

“We offer additional funding for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard in the amount of Hr 1.9 billion,” he said at a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday, July 28.

The second item of expenditure, he said, concerns the restoration of the eastern regions of Ukraine affected as a result of the anti-terrorist operation.

“We envisage Hr 3.3 billion for the restoration of destroyed infrastructure,” he said, noting that it was initially planned to allocate Hr 8 billion for these purposes.

He also noted that about other regions of Ukraine should not be forgotten.

“Hr 1 billion separately [intended] for the socio-economic development of the regions will be envisaged in Ukraine’s state budget,” Yatsenyuk said.
