The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) believes that the activities of the Moscow branch of the Russian Red Cross do not adhere to the organization's principles.

“As for the Red Cross in Moscow, I do not believe these statements and the activities that are carried out by the Moscow branch of the Russian Red Cross to be such which comply with the principle of neutrality, independence, impartiality, the principles that underpin the work of the ICRC,” ICRC President Peter Maurer said at a press conference in Kyiv on Feb. 27.

Maurer said that he has appealed to the president of the Moscow branch of the Russian Red Cross, asking him to address this matter.
