The advisor to the Ukrainian Interior Minister, Anton Heraschenko, has said that police are currently checking all citizens in Donetsk region cities, which are controlled by government forces, on the subject of collaboration with illegal armed groups.

‘The Interior Ministry’s forces are currently checking all those citizens who are in Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and other liberated cities across Donetsk region, on the subject of whether they were helping terrorists or taking part in terrorist attacks,’ Heraschenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on July 7.

‘The Interior Ministry and other government departments will not let anyone whose hands are stained in blood, who took part in kidnappings, tortures, murders, remain unpunished,’ Heraschenko said.

The interior minister’s advisor appealed to the public to report any case of illegal armed groups activities they were aware of. He said information about weapon stores, dangerous armed militants, bombs in buildings and territories was particularly important.

‘The aim of the ATO (anti-terrorist operation) forces is not to beat anyone but to bring peace to Donbas and bring this region back to normal life,’ Heraschenko said.
