Ukraine's Interior Ministry is recording crimes committed by anti-government militants in the east of the country as part of the evidence base that will be used in international courts for claims against the Russian Federation.

“The Interior Ministry is recording the crimes of specific terrorists who committed murder, robbery, and acts of terrorism,” Adviser to Ukraine’s Interior Minister Anton Heraschenko said at a briefing in Kyiv.

Heraschenko also noted that the ministry is recording the data and documents of the armed vehicles that were taken from the soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine.

“We are also recording when the National Guard captures armed vehicles from militants, where these machines are from, what their serial numbers are,” he said.

He added that in the framework of its competence the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is authorized to defend the state’s interests in the UN and at the Hague Tribunal.

Expressing the position of the authority, the official said “we believe Russian weapons are present in Ukraine – the fact of Russian arms and mercenaries deliveries to Ukraine has been proved, and it is known to everybody.”
