The mechanism governing the work of Ukrainian journalists on the territory of Donetsk region, which is not controlled by Kyiv, is now being developed, Vasyl Budyk, an official with the Center for Prisoners' Release, said.

“We have just received the other side’s approval. We are now working on a practical mechanism for fulfilling this agreement, including guarantees and security. After that, information will be communicated to all law enforcement officials who are authorized to work with the press,” Budyk told Interfax-Ukraine on Jan. 15.

Budyk said an agreement has been reached with Oleksandr Zakharchenko, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, and the DPR defense minister. “We have received their approval,” Budyk said.
