U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry telephoned Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on May 21, the two ministers focusing on "the situation in Syria and Yemen, including the efforts of the international community to help launch peace processes in both hot spots," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

They also discussed “the conflict in Ukraine as a follow-up to their negotiations in Sochi on May 12 and a schedule for possible future contacts,” the ministry said in a statement.
