Vilnius – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius has had a meeting in Washington with the U.S. President's Chief Adviser for European Affairs Charles Kupchan, where he urged the U.S. to supply arms to Ukraine, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry said on Feb. 25.

“The country has a right to defend itself. This is not the escalation of the conflict; on the contrary, inaction by West will result in the early success of Russia’s military scenario. We should not help them to implement this scenario,” the minister said.

He also said that the situation in eastern Ukraine continues to deteriorate, and that there was no response from the West to the attack on Debaltseve.

“The Minsk Agreements are still violated, this should have a price,” Linkevicius said.
