Ukrainian troops have repelled another attempt of the militants to storm the Donetsk airport, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) reported.
Besides, a great number of militants and equipment is building up to the north and to the south of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone.
“In Donetsk airport, our troops repelled another terrorists’ attack, positions of the armed forces were shelled with mortars and artillery twice,” NSDC spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday, Oct. 16.
He also said that a large number of military equipment and militants units had been spotted in certain areas of the ATO zone. According to Lysenko, such situation has been noticed in the north of the military operation zone – in Stanytsia Luhanska urban-type settlement in Luhansk region in the direction of Avdiyivka and Debaltseve in Donetsk region, and in the south of the ATO zone – near Mariupol and Volnovakha in Donetsk region.
