Tensions persisted in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine from 6 p.m. until midnight on April 7, and militants conducted 23 attacks on Ukrainian army positions, the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) press center said.

“Russian and terrorist forces four times shelled our positions using
82 mm mortars and three times using 122 mm tube artillery,” reads a
statement of the ATO press center posted on Facebook.

Gunfire was most intensive in Pisky, Opytne, Mayorsk and Avdiyivka in Donetsk region.

Luhansk region was relatively calm although a Ukrainian roadblock
came under fire near Novotoshkivske at 9:45 p.m., the press center said.

“A hostile drone flew over our stronghold in the Mariupol area at 9
p.m.,” the press center said. Yet there were no attacks on populated
areas in that period.

Head of Luhansk Military and Civilian Administration Hennadiy Moskal
has declared a major exacerbation of the situation in the region.

“Both shootouts and engagements between the Ukrainian army and
militants have happened in a number of districts. Armed groups of
militants launched several attacks on our servicemen in Krymske and
engaged in clashes by use of automatic weapons and mortars,” Moskal
press service wrote on April 8.

The latest clash happened early on April 8 morning, and Krymske has been quiet since then, it said.

The 29th roadblock was shelled repeatedly from the village of
Zholobok on the Bakhmutka road, and saboteurs put a Ukrainian stronghold
under automatic gunfire in Novotoshkivka. No one was hurt, Moskal
reported.

A serviceman was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds in Zolote-4.
He was wounded near the railroad track, Moskal said. Another serviceman
was hurt in an explosion of a pull-action mine in a tree belt near the
village of Orikhove in Popasna district. He is also receiving hospital
treatment.
