NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has noted a slight decrease in fighting in eastern Ukraine.

In an interview with the German newspaper Die Welt, Stoltenberg said that the number of clashes in Donbas had decreased lately. Fighting continues in some areas, but there are signs of a slight improvement, he said.

At the same time, the secretary general noted that Russian troops were still present in eastern Ukraine, and were helping the separatists.

In addition, Stoltenberg expressed his concern over the humanitarian situation in the area.
