Kramatorsk – Over one million people have already left flashpoints in Donetsk region and nearly a third of them are temporarily located in Ukrainian government-controlled territory, head of Donetsk regional military-civil administration Oleksandr Kikhtenko has said.

He said that all these people long to return home, however it is currently impossible as their houses are located in occupied territory.

“We must provide them with jobs, social protection. We closely cooperate with international organizations and volunteers over these issues,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv on March 12.

Kikhtenko also said that volunteers are trying to settle these issues, which “sometimes the state can’t handle.”
