Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have discussed the situation in Donbas and the sending by Russia of another humanitarian aid convoy that was not agreed with the Ukrainian authorities, the presidential press service has reported.

The sides discussed these issues by phone on Nov. 7.

“Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel discussed the situation in Donbas. The president noted significant non-compliance with the Minsk protocol, which leads to a further escalation of the conflict,” reads the statement.

Poroshenko said that the sending by the Russian side of another aid convoy, which did not pass Ukrainian border and customs control and was not coordinated with the International Committee of the Red Cross, was a violation of international law and harmed the peaceful settlement and the humanitarian situation in Donbas.

“At the same time, Ukrainian humanitarian aid, which was allocated for residents of Donbas, cannot be delivered because of the actions of militants,” the report says.

Poroshenko and Merkel discussed the further coordination of international efforts towards a peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas ahead of the G20 summit to be held in Brisbane (Australia) on Nov. 15-16.
