Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko introduced Hennadiy Moskal as the new head of Luhansk Regional Administration in Severodonetsk, which is currently performing the functions of the Ukrainian administrative center of Luhansk region, and called on the local authorities to coordinate their actions with the Cabinet of ministers and the army.

Speaking at a conference with the regional administrative and economic chiefs on Friday, Poroshenko said he had visited the Donetsk region earlier in the day, where three lines of defense are being built under his orders, the presidential press service reported.

Poroshenko demanded that everything necessary be done to prepare the Ukrainian forces for winter and to coordinate the military’s activities with the local authorities and the government to normalize the situation on the territories affected by militant actions.

Poroshenko also asked Col. Gen. Viktor Muzhenko, the chief of staff of the Ukrainian armed forces, to provide support to the newly-appointed Luhansk region governor and consider the deployment of two military brigades on a permanent basis in Severodonetsk and Lysychansk.

Introducing Moskal, the president said he has known him well for a long time as a real Ukrainian, who has served at different government positions in different regions, “from Zakarpattia to Luhansk region and Crimea.”

Poroshenko described the new region leader as a man “fully dedicated to the cause, who can work 24 hours a day and doesn’t fear anyone or anything.”

“Donbas needs such an experienced manager now,” Poroshenko said.
