A high-voltage electricity substation has been mined in the premises of Donetsk-based Tochmash mining equipment plant, which can cause partial electricity blackouts in the city, the DTEK energy company reported.

DTEK is a major Ukrainian energy company which is part of the System Capital Management industrial-financial group. Rinat Akhmetov is one of its shareholders.

“DTEK’s high-voltage electricity substation located at Donetsk’s Tochmash has been mined. The substation continues work without personnel’s assistance. Partial electricity blackouts in Donetsk’s Kyivsky district, Donetsk Railway’s substation, Tochmash itself, and Donetsk [Sergey Prokofiev International] Airport are possible,” the company said on Monday.

There are partial power outages in sectors of Kuibyshevsky, Petrovsky and Kirovsky districts in Donetsk, it said.

Electricity supplies have been cut to the center of the town of Horlivka in Donetsk region, to the settlements of Kocheharka coalmine, Mayske, Bessarabka, Holmivsky, and Shyroka Balka, the company reported.

The Horlivka dairy and meat factories, and Horlivka’s Voda Donbassa water pumping station are using reserve electricity generators. Repair workers cannot start fixing the power outages, obstructed by the fighting in the area.

Forty-nine populated areas in Donetsk region remain without electricity.
