Milan -- Moscow is ready to facilitate the withdrawal of troops of both the Ukrainian armed forces and the militias in Donbas, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“We will try to facilitate, mediate, resolve, and find acceptable solutions,” Putin said at a press conference in Milan on Friday.

Some of the populated areas that the militias are supposed to leave are home to militiamen themselves, Putin said. “They say: we can’t leave, as our relatives, wives, and children live there,” he said.

“This can’t be disregarded. The Ukrainian side knows these problems,” he said.

“There are other populated areas where members of the Ukrainian armed forces are still staying. They should have left in accordance with the Minsk agreements but are not so far,” he said.
