You're reading: Saakashvili: Russia invaded Ukraine, it should be called by its name

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has said that Russia has invaded Ukraine, and an undeclared war is currently going on.

“Georgians know too well: hundreds of Russian tanks, armored vehicles and Grad systems cross an international border and attack villages and towns. And the world is hesitating over what to call it,” he wrote on his Facebook page early on Thursday, Aug. 28.

He noted that the actions of the Russians “cannot be called a separatist conflict, a terrorist attack or a ‘Russian counter-attack.'”

“It’s an invasion. It’s a war. Why won’t the international community call it by its name? I think there are more important things going on in our region now than just pouring ice water on someone’s head. The fate of Ukraine, Georgia and all Russian neighbors are now under threat in ‎Donetsk, ‎Luhansk, and ‎Mariupol! Glory to Ukraine,” Saakashvili wrote.
