You're reading: SBU: Spotter involved in Sartana shelling arrested

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has identified individuals who were involved in the shelling of civilians living in the village of Sartana (Donetsk region) and has arrested a spotter working for the militants who worked as an employee of fire and rescue unit of the Main Department of State Emergency Situations Service in Donetsk region.

“Directly, the militant called ‘Zharik’ operated shells. While an employee of the fire and rescue unit of the Main Department of Emergency Situations Service in Donetsk region he spotted fire from Mariupol on the buildings of neighboring civilian citizens of Sartana. He provided information on the shelling targets from Mariupol, where he arrived on the eve [of the attack],” the SBU press center reported on Aug. 20.

The SBU detained the spotter on Aug. 20.
