Around 1,500 people have been killed in Luhansk region, eastern Ukraine, during the anti-terrorist operation there, Luhansk regional administration acting head Iryna Veryhina told Ukraine's Channel 5 television station.

“All in all, up to 1,500 people have been killed in Luhansk region, including both Stanytsia and Lysychansk,” she said.

Luhansk is not receiving food supplies because of the activities of “armed opponents of the Ukrainian authorities,” Veryhina said.

“Entrepreneurs are not delivering any food supplies to Luhansk because members of illegal armed groups stop all cars that enter Luhansk and confiscate food. That is why large supermarkets are afraid of delivering food to the city,” she said.
