You're reading: Some districts of Donetsk remain without water, power

The situation in Donetsk generally remained calm on Aug.1, although shots were heard in some districts of the northwestern and southern parts of the city eyewitnesses said.

Many people are leaving Donetsk, heading south, in the direction of
Mariupol, by car and by bus. Many road vehicles bear the sign
“Children,” which, according to eyewitnesses, gives them the right to go
through checkpoints without waiting in lines. The city exits there are
controlled by supporters of the Donetsk People’s Republic, who have also
set up checkpoints on the road around Donetsk.

In the places where active military action was conducted, primarily
in the Kuibyshevsky and Kyivsky districts, food stores have not opened
yet and people have no water or power. Some residents of those districts
have left them.
