You're reading: Tap water supply restored in some Donetsk households

Donetsk - Tap water was restored on Thursday in a number of Donetsk city districts amid fighting between the Ukrainian army and the militia in the suburbs.

An Interfax correspondent said water had been restored to households in the Hladkivka neighborhood of the Kyivsky district.

That happened after the Upper Kalmius water filtration station incapacitated by a power outage in the hostilities resumed operation. The city authorities claimed water would reach every district of Donetsk after the mains are filled.

As to food, large retailers and markets have sufficient quantities of cereals, meat, dairy products and bread.

Yet there is no bottled or mineral water because of the halted tap water supply in the past few days.

Municipal electric and motor vehicles and mini-buses are transporting passengers, whose number is extremely limited. City residents are unwilling to travel these days.

Tensions prevail in Donetsk.

An Interfax correspondent said residents of the Kyivsky and Voroshylovsky districts had heard the remote sound of artillery fire. Presumably, the hostilities are in progress in the vicinity and on the outskirts of Donetsk, on the side of Yasynuvata.
