Batkivschyna Party Leader Yulia Tymoshenko and the co-chair of the Group of the Greens in the European Parliament Rebecca Harms have agreed to join efforts to release Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko.

According to a posting on the official Web site of the party, the agreement was reached during a telephone conversation between Tymoshenko and Harms.

Tymoshenko thanked Harms for her personal efforts to secure the release of the Ukrainian army pilot.

‘Nadiya has become the symbol of Ukraine’s battle for independence and European choice,’ Harms said, adding that the decision of the Batkivschyna Party is very important for the support of Savchenko.

Tymoshenko also expressed outrage that Russia has blacklisted Rebecca Harms.

‘For me this shows that you really are defending European values,’ Tymoshenko said.

Tymoshenko also thanked Harms for her clear position on the postponement of the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.
