The Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) has assessed the possible losses of farmers from a ban of Rosselkhoznadzor on supply and transit of crop products from Ukraine by late 2014 at $57.5 million.

“Thus, embargo on supplies of the crop products will result in additional losses of $57.5 million by Ukrainian exporters only by late 2014,” reads a press release of the UCAB.

The association said that in the calendar year the total loss could reach $300 million.

According to the report, the role of Russia in Ukrainian crop products exports was small, although for some types of goods this was the key market: apricots, cherries, peaches, plums and sloes, cucumbers, gherkins, apples, pears and quinces.

“Exports of this food to Russia totaled 90-100% of sales on foreign markets,” the UCAB said.
