Ukraine has launched criminal proceedings against the leader of A Just Russia party and its faction in Russia's State Duma, Sergei Mironov, according to a statement on the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's website.

Mironov has been charged with the provision of financial and material assistance to militant groups operating in Ukraine’s east, the report says.

It has been established that a letter of the so-called chairman of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic, Valeriy Bolotov, dated July 5 2014 and addressed to Mironov was posted on the official website of A Just Russia party, the Interior Ministry said.

In the letter Bolotov expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian assistance and financial support provided to representatives of A Just Russia, the report says.
