The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry insists that Russia should pay a compensation after the Ukrainian diplomatic missions were attacked in Moscow and Rostov-on-Don.

‘The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry expresses its resolute protest over the brazen attacks on the Ukrainian diplomatic missions in Moscow and Rostov-on-Don on June 12, 2015. We see these actions as a deliberate provocation against Ukraine, its diplomats and a gross violation by Russia of the provisions of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations,’ the ministry said in a statement released on Saturday.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry calls on the Russian authorities to conduct ‘an immediate full inquiry and a harsh punishment for those responsible, as well as compensate for the damage caused.

‘It was reported that the Ukrainian Consulate General in Rostov-on-Don was pelted with stones and eggs overnight.

On June 11 a group of aggressive citizens in Kharkiv threw green dye and eggs at the building of the Russian Consulate General, damaging its facade. A spokeswoman for the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said the protest outside the Russian Consulate General passed ‘without gross public-order violation.’
