Ukraine's justice minister on Monday accused Russia of seeking to delay litigation over Crimea-related issues at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

“I hope that cases relating to the illegal occupation of part of Ukraine by the Russian Federation will be considered as quickly as possible because Russia has taken a stance of procrastination. We have said at the European Court that Russia, without any explanations, has asked for a deferment until September 25 in order to prepare explanations on the annexation of Crimea,” Pavlo Petrenko said in Kyiv.

He claimed that the reason for Russia’s request was “lack of corroborative arguments that could be presented at international courts.”

“We realize that they have no arguments, and so we, for our part, will do everything possible to make sure that international courts make decisions on Ukrainian suits as quickly as their regulations allow,” he said.
