Ukrainian army positions in Donbas came under 58 attacks on June 16, including 16 attacks by mortars, among them 120mm calibers outlawed by the Minsk agreements, and three attacks by 122mm howitzers, the army operation press center said on June 16.

According to the report posted on Facebook, a team of approximately 30 assailants attacked Ukrainian positions near Maryinka at around midnight. Another unit of no less than 150 men launched an attack on Ukrainian positions with support of 120mm mortars in a later period, the press center alleged.

Information about results of the clash and casualties of both warring sides is being verified, it said.

In all, about 40 attacks on Ukrainian positions and infrastructures of populated localities were observed in the early morning hours of Wednesday, the press center said.

In its words, 120mm mortars and tanks shelled Maryinka before the assault. Similar weapons fired on Starohnativka.

Orikhove and Novotoshkivka came under attack of 122mm howitzers, Zolote was shelled by 120mm mortars, and grenade launchers fired on Triokhizbenka in the Luhansk region.

120mm mortar shells exploded on Ukrainian positions near Troitske. The same positions were shelled man-portable Grad rocket launchers and a tank.
