A Ukrainian border unit stationed near the town of Novotroitske in the Donetsk Oblast came under mortar fire on Sept. 9; the border guards are unharmed, the Ukrainian State Border Service has reported.

According to the report, the border guards were moving to a new checkpoint onboard a Kuguar vehicle.

“The mortar attack began on the Novotroitske-Dokuchayevsk-Berezove road junction. One mine blasted near the vehicle but armor protected the border guards. The Kuguar was damaged by mine fragments,” the report said.

Due to the mortar attack of the militants the traffic of pedestrians and vehicles was suspended at the Bugas checkpoint and the nearby Berezove roadblock for security reasons, the report said.
