There will be no more unilateral ceasefire by the Ukrainian units engaged in the army operation in eastern Ukraine, Defense Minister Valeriy Heletei said.
“The Ukrainian president has made this clear. Now any negotiations are possible on the condition the militants lay down armaments once and for all,” he told reporters in the zone of the army operation in eastern Ukraine. The Defense Ministry press service quoted the minister as saying on Tuesday, July 8.
Many roads in the region, among them Sloviansk-Kramatorsk and Sloviansk-Artemivsk, are mined, the minister said.
“Lots of dud mines and munitions are scattered along the curb and on roads. There is a possibility of their detonation so we are working on rapid demining of the area and defusing of mines and munitions. Relevant units are accomplishing this mission practically round the clock,” the minister said.
Heletei categorically refuted media reports alleging that the militia had seized a Sukhoi Su-25 jet of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
