The Ukrainian Cabinet has approved the sanctions against several legal entities and individuals due to Russia's actions regarding Ukraine and has submitted them for consideration of the Council of National Security and Defense (SBU).

On Aug. 12, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk signed the relevant resolution on broader proposals for the use of personal special economic and other restrictive measures, the governmental internet portal said. The resolution takes effect from the day it was signed.

Meanwhile, the lists of individuals and legal entities on which sanctions were imposed are intended only for service use, so they are not made public.

The issues of setting the term of application of sanctions, informing individuals about the sanctions applied to them and publishing the list of such individuals have been submitted for the SBU’s consideration.

“Bodies of state power, which are empowered to fulfill the SBU decision on the use of sanctions, during the term the sanctions are in effect if an individual applies for an authorization document, the issue of which is banned under the sanction, or the expression of will of an individual regarding the execution of a legal deal that is banned by the sanction, to conduct an inspection of the belongingness of such an individual to [the list of] people who come under sanctions,” the resolution said.

After the SBU decision on the use of sanctions takes effect, the Foreign Ministry should file the relevant information with law enforcement agencies of the European Union, the United States and other countries so that they will consider the issue of imposing similar sanctions.
