You're reading: Ukrainian military lose 19, nine captured in withdrawal from Debaltseve

The Ukrainian servicemen lost 19 men, 135 men were injured and nine were taken prisoner in their withdrawal from Debaltseve on Feb. 17, acting spokesman for the Ukrainian General Staff Vladyslav Selezniov has said.

“Considering the keen public interest in the Debaltseve events of Feb. 17, we are offering additional information. During the scheduled withdrawal of approximately 3,000 servicemen from the Debaltseve area, Ukraine lost 19 men, twelve went missing, 135 were wounded and nine were taken prisoner,” Selezniov said.

The bodies of 81 servicemen killed in January-February have been extracted from the rebel-controlled territories and 19 bodies have been identified over the past week, he said.
