The Ukrainian military are trying to take the town of Severodonetsk, Luhansk region, under their full control.

“Units of the National Guard, the army, and special units of the
Ukrainian Security Service are cleansing the city of militants,”
Vladyslav Selezniov, the head of the group in charge of reporting on the
military operation, told reporters on Tuesday, July 22.

Selezniov said Severodonetsk is currently not fully controlled by the Ukrainian military and the militia are resisting.

Severodonetsk has a population of some 110,000 people. The city forms
a unified Lysychansk-Severodonestk agglomeration with the neighboring
Lysychansk, Rubizhne, and Kreminna.

The information center of the National Security and Defense Council
has reported that three teenagers were killed by a landmine in
Lysychansk on July 20. After that, “Lysychansk residents gave terrorists
an ultimatum to leave the town by 2 p.m. on July 22,” the National
Security and Defense Council reported.

According to earlier reports, the Ukrainian military assumed control
over Dzerzhynsk and cleansed the city from militants on July 21.

In the night prior to that, unknown individuals had blown up the
supporting structures of a bridge over the river Borova on the section
of the road connecting Severodonetsk and Rubizhne. No rebuilding work is
being done on the bridge due to the fighting.
