Paris - The United Nations says the number of people killed in eastern Ukraine has nearly doubled over the past two weeks, the Le Figaro online reported referring to the UN.

Cecile Pouilly, a spokeswoman for the UN Human Rights Office, said on
Wednesday, Aug. 13 that figures show the death as of Aug. 10 passed 2,086, up
from 1,129, which was recorded on July 26.

Nearly 5,000 people, including soldiers, terrorists and civilians
have also sustained injuries in the fighting since mid-April, she said.
