You're reading: Another dead body found in Tbilisi after flood

The dead body of a young woman killed in a devastating flood that swept through Tbilisi last week has been found on the premises of the Georgian capital's zoo.

Footage showing the newly discovered corpse was broadcast by Georgian television stations. The country’s Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli confirmed this to reporters as well.

However, there have been varying official reports of the death toll from the flooding in Tbilisi. The authorities first put the death toll at 19, then at 17 and most recently at 18.

All through the night, Tbilisi police and special operations forces continued to look for a tiger that escaped from the Tbilisi zoo during the flood. Phone calls about the animal’s possible whereabouts were received from different parts of Tbilisi, but the tiger was not in any of the named locations.
