BRUSSELS - The death toll from a rifle and grenade attack by a lone gunman in Belgium last week rose to seven on Friday after a 20-year-old man died in hospital from head injuries.

Nordine Amrani, 33, sprayed bullets at Christmas shoppers and children and hurled a grenade at people waiting for a bus in the eastern Belgian city of Liege last Tuesday.

The CHU hospital in Liege said the condition of the man, who had been waiting at the bus stop, had worsened on Thursday. The man, the gunman’s sixth victim, was already in a coma. He killed two teenage boys, a boy of 17 months and a 75-year-old woman, as well as the 20-year-old man, before shooting himself dead. Before the attack, he also killed a cleaner in her 40s in a warehouse he owned.
