TBILISI - Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili believes the OSCE mission should be restored in the republic.

“Against the background of the unsettled conflicts in Georgia, the issue of restoring the OSCE mission is vital. For our part, we are saying once again that all our efforts will be targeted at peaceful settlement of conflicts, consolidation of the Georgian, Abkhaz and Ossetian public. We have unilaterally assumed an obligation not to use force in conflict zones and we expect Russia to take the same step,” Kvirikashvili said at the opening ceremony of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Tbilisi.

In his speech at the session, Georgian Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili said the OSCE in 2008 not only helped prevent a military conflict, but also left Georgia.

“The contemporary era necessitated further transformation of the OSCE to better counter the lack of security and cooperation. The situation in Georgia makes us draw such conclusions,” he said.
