WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Polish authorities have exhumed a politician who was killed along with President Lech Kaczynski in a 2010 plane crash in Russia because his family voiced doubts about the Russian autopsy.

The exhumation held on Monday 19 in Warsaw of Przemyslaw Gosiewski is the second such exhumation of one of the 96 people killed near Smolensk, Russia, along with Kaczynski.

It reflects a deep distrust of Russia, which took the lead in examining the bodies and securing the crash site. Some believe Moscow is trying to cover up possible mistakes made in handling the disaster.

A lawyer for the Gosiewski family, Rafal Rogalski, told the news agency PAP that the exhumation was carried out early in the morning at Warsaw’s military cemetery.
