You're reading: UK court hears horror tale of witchcraft killing

A British court is hearing the dramatic case of a teenage boy who was tortured and drowned because a relative suspected him of being a witch.

Prosecutors say Kristy Bamu, 15, begged to die because he was in such pain from repeated attacks on Christmas Day, 2010.

They say he eventually drowned after being forced into a bathtub and doused with cold water. It is not clear if he was still conscious at the time.

Prosecutor Brian Altman told the court Thursday that Bamu had more than 100 injuries inflicted by sticks, a metal bar, a hammer and a chisel.

Bamu’s sister and her partner are on trial in the Old Bailey. They deny killing the boy.
